Just finished watching a japanese drama - "good luck". It was recommended by Ivan, lol (refer to tagboard). As it was related to aviation (pilot), I was quite interested in it. And I spent my whole day today from morning until now plus about 2 hours yesterday to watch the entire drama series - 10 episodes. Well, the story was very very very interesting and touching. I don't really know how/why I feel it's great. It's just the feeling i get when i watched the drama. Or maybe because I am really interested in aviation and somemore this is in Japan (and I like Japan).

Maybe I will just summarise here:

In the story got one First Officer (FO) pliot named Shinkai, just graduated from pilot school. And there is this one flight audit officer (that's what they called it) named Captain Kouda. His job is basically to manage pilots and see their performance. This Captain Kouda is very well-known to be very mean to pilots and very strict, one mistake and it means a harsh punishment.

One day, Shinkai was flying with another Captain. Just before landing, the Captain's back start to ache and cannot handle the landing, so Shinkai was asked to take over. And so Shinkai took over and landed successfully. However, Captain Kouda saw this as an irresponsible act and dismissed the Captain who was flying with Shinkai.

Shinkai was not pleased with this and argued with Captain Kouda and because of that, Shinkai was suspended for two days. Shinkai did not want to apologise to Kouda as he felt he did nothing wrong. This made Kouda to continue suspending him. Shinkai realised that flying is his real passion and eventually went to apologise to Kouda.

Hah, to cut things short. In the drama, there were a lot of instances where Shinkai argued with Kouda and Kouda even told Shinkai straight off his face that he was stupid and was a failure as a person. And they argued a lot lor....

However, Shinkai did not know that Kouda had a sad past that led to him becoming so strict as a person now. Because 12 years ago, he was with another airline. He was supposed to fly but he was sick and called the standby pilot. Eventually, the plane crashed due to system malfunction. Kouda believed that if he flew the plane on that day, the accident will not have happened.

Conincidentally, the plane which crashed were the parents of a mechanic in the airlines named Ogawa. Shinkai also knew Ogawa as on Shinkai's first flight, after he landed, Ogawa (being the ground staff) told Shinkai off the face that Shinkai suck as a pilot, not knowing how to handle the plane.

And so, these three people had a lot of development. Nevertheless, Shinkai eventually got along better with Kouda. The story took a turn when Shinkai fell from 6 metres and broke some of his leg nerves, causing some reduced leg functionality, causing him not being able to fly. Actually, Kouda was responsible for Shinkai's accident. Kouda resigned in an effort to take responsibility for what happened. Shinkai stopped Kouda in the nick of time and begged Kouda to continue flying with him until Shinkai was a Captain as he felt that Kouda is really a good teacher and skilled pilot.

Shinkai told the risk of an operation to repair his nerves with the operation only having a success rate of less than 10% The operation succeeded. Shinkai was able to fly again. However, he has to retake some of the exams.

The final exam came when Shinkai had to fly to Honolulu with Kouda as his examiner. On the way, there was turbulence and many troubles in the Cabin and of course, they handled and everything was alright. Best thing of all, Kouda passed Shinkai and Shinkai returned to the team !

Things aside, Ogawa and Shinkai developed their love since their first encounter. At the same time, Shinkai was also trying to fix the relationship between him and his father as he ran away from home to become a pilot (to fulfil his passion).

Ok, that's all, ops, I guess that's quite long !! Haha, it's really a very nice drama, too engrossed in it already. Nevertheless, it had a happy ending. =) Lol, sorry if you all don't understand what I am saying above. However, if you all watch it, you all sure will understand de. =P

If want to watch, can go youtube. Search for "GL 1.1". Got 10 episodes - episode 1 and 10 broken into 6 parts and the rest into 5 parts. Each part averaging about 8-10 mins. Lol.
